Advice/Help/A lending ear would be much ablidged.

WRAUCK:

Hi all,

My name is Will and I have a gambling problem. It started off recreationally playing live with my friends while we drinked and played cheap $5 - $10 cash games. However, when I left for college and the whole ESPN thing blew up on TV I turned online to Party Poker to "make my millions." I would fluxuate up and down, down mostly and in the end accrewed $5k+ in debts to Firepay, Neteller, and Pay-Pro. I have attempted to keep away from the internet sites but each time after a few weeks I would return to the games only to lose more money.

After living in anguish, keeping this secret to myself for many months, and suffering drastically in school and socially and found myself with no way out. So I sucked it up and came out to my parents. Needless to say they were disappointed. They offered support emotionally but they told me that financially I was on my own and that I would have to take out loans elsewhere to pay back my debts. This is going to take me some time as I am still only a student and I only have a part time job. This has left me frustrated.

I know that I MUST beat this, and I know that its not something that is done over night. To the people who are going through the same thing or have gone through this:

How have you found the strength/motivation to carry on and make a strong fight? (often times I feel like giving up on everything in life)

What has been your experiences with Firepay, Neteller, and Pay-Pro in paying them back over time? Do they offer minimum payments? Can they take legal action against me?

Finally, I do not want any younger kids who are just turning 17 and 18 to fall into this horrible trap/addiction. I know that the government is currently passing laws to ban internet poker. Is there anything we as a group can voice out to the government to insure that this bill gets passed. I am willing to put my name toward any such movement.

Thanks for all of your help and God Bless,

Will

Will,

I am the founder of problempoker.com. We offer a 6-month gambling self-exclusion program where we will help prevent you from accessing online gambling web sites. It may help your situation. Good luck.

A part of it is taking it one day at a time. There is very little you can do about the past. You can only live in the present and hope for the future.
